Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, your students will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the five muscle groups of the core
  • Demonstrate how each muscle group plays a role in functional asana
  • Describe intra-abdominal pressure in your own words
  • Experience and describe how the obliques engage to facilitate twists
  • Teach a revolved pose with accurate anatomical language
  • Teach navasana using anatomical language that describes the engagement of the abdominals, psoas, and quadratus lumborum
  • Describe how the support of the pelvic floor may contribute to asana practice
