Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, your students will be able to:

  • Describe the general anatomy of the nervous system
  • Compare and contrast the enteric, sympathetic and parasympathetic systems
  • Describe how the Relaxation Response validates the therapeutic effect of yoga
  • Landmark the following nerves:
    • Sciatic Nerve
    • Brachial plexus
    • Median nerve
  • Create a brief sequence that alternates activating and pacifying the nervous system
  • Lead a partner through a meditation designed to elicit the parasympathetic nervous system response
